How we work

What we check before publishing, what we refuse, and how anything paid for is marked.

Research and accuracy

Articles are written to explain a mechanism, not to rank products. Where a claim depends on a number — a benchmark, a price, a market share — we either cite a source a reader can open or we describe the mechanism and the direction of the effect instead of inventing a figure. Version numbers age badly, so we prefer behaviour that stays true across releases and say plainly when something is version-specific.

Corrections

If an article is wrong, we correct it in place and say what changed at the foot of the piece. Substantive corrections are not made silently. Write to the address on the contact page with the URL and what you believe is incorrect.

Commercial content

This publication takes paid placements and sponsored links. They are a normal part of how an independent site pays for itself, and they do not buy editorial coverage: a sponsor cannot commission a favourable review, and no editorial article is written to support a placement. Links inside archive articles that point to a commercial partner carry rel="nofollow", and partner logos on the home page sit in a block labelled as such.

What we do not publish

No press-release rewrites, no articles whose only purpose is to host a link, no fabricated testing, no invented quotes, and nothing about our own commercial partners in an editorial section. Archive material inherited with the domain is kept for the record and is labelled as archive.

Machine assistance

We use software assistance in research and drafting, the same way the tools we write about are used. Every published article is reviewed and edited by a person, who is responsible for its claims. Assistance is never a defence for an error.
